Working Background

Diane’s working career began in Information Technology (IT) performing worldwide computer support for seven years with Digital Equipment Corporation, the number two computer company in the world at that time. She moved to Australia in 1988 and continued with IT and project-related roles for large and small corporates for another 20 or so years. However, she longed to work in the outdoors and studied horticulture classes as a hobby.

After completing ten Horticulture units of study, she worked part-time and found that she loved the hands-on work. In 2014, Diane left the corporate life for her own garden maintenance company, Green Mountain Garden Girls. This small company now named Green Mountain Gardens (since she wanted to work with guys too) peaked with 25 regular clients and 5 to 10 seasonal clients in Clifton Hill, Kew, Deepdene, Surrey Hills, Canterbury, The Patch and other suburbs nearby the company’s Northcote base.

Since late 2018, Diane has been progressing off the tools to take advantage of her Certificate IV Train the Trainer qualification and experience in performing training locally, nationally and internationally by writing short courses for home owners on garden maintenance. She trained with Melbourne Polytechnic and Swinburne in Garden Design and Vectorworks for drawings and design activities with her own small, urban garden and other gardens over the years.

Diane also offers clients hands-on training in their own gardens on a quarterly basis, as well as customised courses with course notes for their garden.
